Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Aït Benhaddou – Dades Valley

Your adventure begins with an early departure from Marrakech, leaving behind the vibrant medina and heading toward the breathtaking landscapes of southern Morocco.

We cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), the highest road pass in Morocco. Along the way, you’ll enjoy panoramic mountain views, traditional Berber villages built into the hillsides, and scenic photo stops overlooking dramatic valleys.

Midway, we explore the UNESCO-listed Aït Benhaddou — a magnificent fortified village made of earthen clay architecture. Wander through narrow alleys, climb to the top for stunning desert views, and discover why this iconic ksar has been featured in international films.

After lunch near Ouarzazate, we continue through the Valley of the Roses, famous for its fragrant rose fields (in spring) and palm-lined oasis landscapes. By late afternoon, we arrive in the spectacular Dades Valley, known for its dramatic rock formations and ancient kasbahs.

Overnight in a charming guesthouse surrounded by mountains — the perfect place to rest before your horse trekking adventure begins.

Driving time: ~ 6–7 hours

Day 2Roses Valley – Begin Horse Trek – Oasis Trails & Mountain Foothills

After breakfast, you meet your professional horse trekking team and are introduced to your well-trained horse. Following a short safety briefing and equipment check, your Morocco horse riding adventure officially begins.

We start riding through the lush palm groves and fertile gardens of the Roses Valley. This region is famous for its rose cultivation, traditional irrigation systems, and peaceful Berber villages.

The contrast between green oasis landscapes and surrounding rocky hills makes this one of the most scenic horse riding routes in Morocco.

As we gradually ascend toward the foothills of the Jbel Saghro, the scenery becomes more open and dramatic. Expect wide valleys, volcanic rock formations, and breathtaking panoramic views.

Picnic lunch is served in nature.

In the late afternoon, we reach our first mountain campsite. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner prepared by the support team and experience a magical night under the stars. Riding time: 4–5 hours

Accommodation: Mountain camp

Day 3Crossing the Wild Landscapes of Jbel Saghro

Today is the highlight of your horse trekking experience in Morocco. We ride deeper into the volcanic terrain of the Saghrou Mountains, a remote region known for its black basalt rocks, rugged plateaus, dramatic peaks, and lunar-like landscapes. This area is far from mass tourism and offers true off-the-beaten-path exploration.

As you ride across high plateaus and hidden valleys, you may encounter semi-nomadic Berber families tending goats and camels — a glimpse into traditional mountain life that has remained unchanged for generations.

The silence here is powerful. Only the sound of hooves against stone and the wind moving across vast open landscapes.

We stop for a scenic picnic lunch overlooking wide mountain horizons.

In the afternoon, we continue riding across remote trails before setting up our second campsite in a peaceful valley surrounded by volcanic peaks.

Dinner around the campfire and overnight under a sky full of stars.

Riding time: 5–6 hours

Accommodation: Mountain camp

Day 4Final Ride – Return to Marrakech

After breakfast in the fresh mountain air, we enjoy a final morning ride through wide open valleys and rocky desert plateaus — a perfect opportunity for photos and to fully absorb the raw beauty of southern Morocco.

We then meet our driver for the transfer back toward Marrakech. The return journey takes us once again through the Dades Valley and across the High Atlas Mountains.

Arrival in Marrakech in the early evening.

Driving time: approx. 6–7 hours
