Your Fes to Merzouga desert tour begins early in the morning with a private pick-up from your accommodation in Fes. Leaving the city behind, the road heads south into the Middle Atlas Mountains, offering fresh air, green landscapes, and dramatic changes in scenery.

Your first stop is Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco. Known for its alpine-style architecture, clean streets, and cool climate, Ifrane offers a completely different atmosphere from the rest of the country.

Continuing to Azrou Cedar Forest, you enter the largest cedar forest in Morocco. Here, you may encounter wild Barbary macaques, living freely among centuries-old cedar trees. This is a perfect spot for photos and a short walk in nature.

The journey continues through mountain landscapes toward Midelt, a town located between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas ranges, known as the apple capital of Morocco. Lunch break in Midelt (free choice).

In the afternoon, the scenery begins to change as you descend toward the desert. Passing through Erfoud, famous for fossils and desert agriculture, you officially enter the Saharan region. Shortly after, you reach Rissani, an important historic trading center and former capital of Tafilalt.

Arrival at the desert camp, welcome with mint tea, traditional dinner, and an evening of Berber music around the campfire, followed by stargazing under a crystal-clear desert sky.

After a refreshing shower, the journey back to Fes begins. The road follows the beautiful Ziz Valley, one of Morocco’s largest palm oases, offering panoramic views of palm groves, villages, and ancient irrigation systems.

Passing again through Midelt and Azrou, you enjoy changing landscapes from desert plains to forested mountains. A final stop in Ifrane allows a short break before continuing north.
